Description
Traitor. Patriot. Dated between 1861 and 1865. This Civil War envelope depicts the presidential (John Bell) and vice presidential (Edward Everett) candidates of the Constitutional Union Party. The word "Traitor" has been stamped over John Bell's image. The word "Patriot" been stamped over Edward Everett's image. A Union flag with a liberty cap on the flag pole appears at the bottom of the portraits.
