Description

This handwritten statement by Benjamin Whitman documents the provenance of a Masonic cigar box given to General Stephens of New York by General George Washington. The cigar box (78.20.1a-b), as well as a leaf from a bush which grew outside of Washington's tomb, is in the museum collection of the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library (view online here).
