Letter, dated October 17, 1836, from United States Congressman Franklin Pierce to John Parker Hale. Pierce agrees to write a letter of recommendation for John Parker Hale's brother. Hale was the U.S. District Attorney for the state of New Hampshire and would eventually serve in the United States House of Representatives (1843-1845) and the United States Senate (1847-1853).
