Description

Manuscript letter addressed to "Rt. Worshipful Master, Wardens & Brethren of Middlesex Lodge" from Elisha Thayer, dated June 22, 1842. Thayer mentions the survival of Middlesex Lodge during the Anti-Masonic period and offers his congratulations "on this auspicious event." Thayer appears to be writing about the June 24, 1842 celebration of St. John's Day by Middlesex Lodge in Framingham, which was the first public Masonic display in Massachusetts since 1834.
