Description

Letter from Giles F. Yates to John James Joseph Gourgas. Dated July 20, 1827. In this letter, Yates, a member of the Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction, and Sovereign of Sovereigns of Albany Sovereign Consistory, petitions the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, for Albany Sovereign Consistory to come under the authority of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. It was not until 1827 that the two Supreme Councils agreed upon a jurisdictional division of territory, and the Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction, had chartered Albany Consistory.
