Jeff. Davis going to war, Jeff. Davis returning from war an [ass]. Dated 1861. This wood engraving created by E. Rogers depicts a metamorphic image of Confederate president Jefferson Davis. Imprint at the bottom of the document reads, "Entered, according to act of Congress, in the year 1861, by E. Rogers, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, in and for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Agency in New York, 68 Cedar Street."
