Master Mason Certificate, 1856
Silversmith, publisher and Mason, Horace Goodwin produced this certificate in 1826. He formed his design out of sinuous lines and shapes. Though engraved, these images look like an artist calligraphed them in ink, as in the example penned by Isaac Bragg. Thirty years after Goodwin first printed certificates of this design, the secretary of Union Lodge No. 31 in New London, Connecticut, filled one out for Joseph Comstock.
