Title

Letter from Charles W. Moore to John James Joseph Gourgas, 1845 November 07

Description

Letter from Charles W. Moore to John James Joseph Gourgas. Dated November 07, 1845. In this letter, Moore states he has received Giles Fonda Yates’ message regarding John Christie’s charter and will continue to search for it. Moore apologizes for delaying the communication from Charleston and states he will publish it as soon as possible. Comments that because of his busy schedule the quality of the last edition Freemasons Monthly Magazine has suffered. Moore hopes to have more time in a few weeks to give attention to “some matters connected with” the two Supreme Councils “and the cause pursued by our Paris friends.” Topics include the Cerneau Consistory in New Orleans and the fallout created by such irregular and illegal bodies and the practices of English Freemasons. On this point, Moore offers the use of his magazine to advise his London subscribers. Concludes by stating that he has not seen Edward Raymond since his last letter, but presumes he has sent the petition; otherwise, Moore will “see that he does so.”
